Malaysia’s ruling party under corruption spotlight

Malaysia’s ruling party under corruption spotlight – Yahoo!7 News.

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) – A top member of Malaysia’s ruling party has been charged with corruption while another has been investigated in the past week as the party heads for a critical annual meeting.

The new allegations put the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) under the spotlight but analysts said the moves only touched the surface and suggested corruption ran deeper in the party that has ruled for half a century.

On Friday, Norza Zakaria, a member of UMNO’s supreme council — its highest decision-making body — was charged in central Pahang state with two charges of giving bribes worth 3,400 ringgit (918 dollars) to party members in January.

Winged Prince Charles: Saviour of the world

    angel

    BBC.

A giant bronze statue of Prince Charles as a winged hero “saving the world” is to become the centrepiece of a remote Amazonian town.

The Prince was presented with a model of the sculpture, which shows him with bulging muscles, pinned back ears and only a loin cloth to protect his modesty.

During his visit to Tocantins state in central Brazil the Prince was told the full size piece would be erected in a square named in his honour in the main town of Palmas.

Charles arrived in Tocantins from Rio, where he showed his appreciation for Brazilian culture by doing the Samba with street dancers and playing football with children at a community centre.

Artist Mauricio Bentes moulded the statue of his 53-year-old subject using pictures downloaded from the internet.

Apart from the angel-like wings and muscular physique he also gave Prince Charles a full head of hair. At his feet are human bodies, one of whom is drinking a bottle of wine.

The lower part of the statue shows him standing on the Earth with humanity groveling at his feet. The book of Isaiah says that God sits on the circle of the earth in the sides of the North. This is exactly where this Luciferic depiction of Prince Charles is standing.

Shouldn’t Schwarzenegger be held accountable for California’s woes?

WSJ: California’s Pain Is Only Beginning
Cuts to Parks, Schools and Roads Hint at What’s to Come Under Any Budget Deal

BIG SUR, Calif. — As Sacramento squabbles over the state’s $42 billion deficit, Californians are getting a bitter taste of what’s to come after the steep budget cuts that are inevitable when legislators and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger finally hammer out a deal.

Some world-famous parks like Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park may not open this year. After-school programs in low-income areas are being scuttled, putting high-risk teens on the street just as police forces are being cut. Schools are closing classrooms, and some highway projects have ground to a halt. The state may not be able to monitor some sex offenders as required under law.

A budget deal may restore some of the missing funds. But everyone knows that not all monies will flow again after a deal, and Californians increasingly fear they are seeing a hint of their future.

Isn’t it about time politicians be held accountable?

Multi-National corporate behavior: Blockbuster and voodoo

Mexico voodoo promo gets new partner, Blockbuster.

MEXICO CITY — After Radioshack dropped out, a Mexican newspaper has found a new U.S. corporate sponsor to help put a voodoo hex on the U.S. national soccer team – and end Mexico’s decade-long losing streak.

Blockbuster stores in Mexico City began trading Record newspaper coupons for voodoo-doll likenesses of U.S. soccer players Friday. The back of the dolls’ jersey reads, “Gringos.”

They should be used to wish for a Mexico goal during the World Cup qualifier Wednesday in Colombus, Ohio, according to the instructions.

Mexico has not beaten the Americans on U.S. soil in 10 years.

“Hold a needle firmly between your thumb and index finger and prick slowly the part of the doll where you want to affect the opponent,” the instructions say.

Electronics retailer RadioShack, of Fort Worth, Texas, dropped out as a distribution partner last week after learning details of the campaign.

FOX News: Bush’s Grandfather Directed Bank Tied to Man Who Funded Hitler

FOXNews.com – Documents: Bush’s Grandfather Directed Bank Tied to Man Who Funded Hitler – Politics | Republican Party | Democratic Party | Political Spectrum.

WASHINGTON — President Bush’s grandfather was a director of a bank seized by the federal government because of its ties to a German industrialist who helped bankroll Adolf Hitler’s rise to power, government documents show.

Prescott Bush (search) was one of seven directors of Union Banking Corp. (search), a New York investment bank owned by a bank controlled by the Thyssen family, according to recently declassified National Archives documents reviewed by The Associated Press.

Fritz Thyssen (search) was an early financial supporter of Hitler, whose Nazi party Thyssen believed was preferable to communism. The documents do not show any evidence Bush directly aided that effort. His position with Union Banking never was a political issue for Bush, who was elected to the Senate from Connecticut in 1952.

How Bush’s grandfather helped Hitler’s rise to power

How Bush’s grandfather helped Hitler’s rise to power | World news | The Guardian.

Rumours of a link between the US first family and the Nazi war machine have circulated for decades. Now the Guardian can reveal how repercussions of events that culminated in action under the Trading with the Enemy Act are still being felt by today’s president

George Bush’s grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany.

The Guardian has obtained confirmation from newly discovered files in the US National Archives that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism.

His business dealings, which continued until his company’s assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act, has led more than 60 years later to a civil action for damages being brought in Germany against the Bush family by two former slave labourers at Auschwitz and to a hum of pre-election controversy.

Elite power brokers meet in secret

BBC NEWS | Europe | Elite power brokers meet in secret.

The world’s financial and political elite are to hold a closed meeting in France on Thursday where delegates are expected to be focusing their attention on post war Iraq.

The Bilderberg meeting will be held in Versailles just before the start of the Group of Seven meeting of finance ministers in nearby Paris.

Bilderberg, which was founded in the 1950s by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, is said to steer international policy from behind closed doors.

Its critics say that it is a capitalist organisation which operates entirely through self interest.

By anyone’s standards, it is a bit of a mystery.

There are no members as such – instead, an invitation list is comprised each year by an unknown steering committee, but participants are mainly leading and powerful figures in the fields of business and politics.

    Political clout

The meetings are cloaked in secrecy and participants rarely reveal their attendance, although this year’s list is rumoured to include the American banker David Rockefeller and Henry Kissinger.

What the group actually does is no clearer either, although it’s known to be an extremely influential lobbying group with a good deal of political clout on both sides of the Atlantic.

Key members of both the British and the US governments are said to have attended gatherings.

But critics accuse Bilderberg of being sinister and conspiratorial – if what the delegates are discussing is really for the good of ordinary people they ask, then why can’t they publicise it?

Cleric who said Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for homosexuality is made bishop by Vatican

Cleric who said Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for homosexuality is made bishop by Vatican | Mail Online.

An Austrian cleric who said Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for the homosexual sins of New Orleans has been made a bishop by the Vatican.

Reverend Gerhard Wagner was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI just days after controversial British bishop Richard Williamson, who has said ‘no one had died in the gas chambers’ during the Holocaust, was allowed back into the Catholic Church.

The wisdom of the Vatican was again being questioned following Wagner’s appointment as the Bishop of Linz with Italian newspaper La Stampa labelling it a ‘controversial’.

Rev Wagner, 54, caused outrage when he was quoted in his local parish newsletter as saying that the death and destruction of Hurricane Katrina was ‘divine retribution’ for New Orleans’ tolerance of homosexuals and laid-back sexual attitudes.

Well raping young boys is homosexuality, so I say the the to the catholic church .
Wipe the shit off your finger before you point it at anyone. The catholic church is the foundation of homosexuality and is also a hate group against women and children. They should take Cardnial Mahoney and string him up by his balls and see how he likes being tortured like they did all those boys.

Obama and Palin attend secret dinner

Palin arriving at the secret dinner

Front Row Washington » Blog Archive » Obama shares spotlight with Palin at Alfalfa Dinner.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama shared Washington’s high-society spotlight on Saturday night with an unlikely co-star — Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Wearing a black satin evening gown, Palin was spotted by journalists making her way into the ballroom at the Capitol Hilton for the Alfalfa Dinner, an annual closed-door roast of the city’s political and business elite.

Following in the footsteps of White House predecessors, Obama served as headline speaker at the light-hearted black-tie affair, which in accordance with a 96-year tradition bars reporters.

So it was not known whether the president had any choice words from the podium for Palin, who as Republican vice presidential nominee in the 2008 election rarely missed a chance to lash into Obama.

But, according to a few of Obama’s joke excerpts released by the White House, he had a few zingers for his hard-driving chief of state, Rahm Emanuel, who has a reputation for sometimes harsh language.

“It was actually Rahm’s idea to do the swearing-in ceremony again,” he said. “Of course, for Rahm, every day is a swearing-in ceremony.”

“Rahm Emanuel is a real sweetheart,” Obama added. “Every week the guy takes a little time away to give back to the community. Just last week he was at a local school, teaching profanity to poor children.”

Of his battle to guard part of his pre-White House lifestyle after his Jan. 20 inauguration, he said, “In just the first few weeks, I’ve had to engage in some of the toughest diplomacy of my life. And that was just to keep my Blackberry.”

And Obama, the first black U.S. president, also poked fun at the Alfalfa Club’s founding in 1913 by a group of Southern gentlemen.

“Many you are aware that this dinner began almost one hundred years ago as a way to celebrate the birthday of General Robert E. Lee. If he were here with us tonight, the general would be 202 years old. And very confused,” Obama said.
